In the Philippines there are firecrackers that are banned here. They are piccolo, Goodbye Philippines, pla pla, etc. Don't use those kind of firecrackers. Just celebrate it with fireworks and use firecrackers that are safe.
In other countries like Hong Kong, they celebrate New Year like fireworks in the Hong Kong Island from the view in Avenue of Stars. Just simple as that. It's more safe. haha! :))
